If you have an existing pole barn that has columns that are rotting off at the ground line, we have a solution for you.
Use Concrete Perma-Columns instead of treated wood to replace those decayed posts!
The Perma-Column utilizes a precast concrete column in the ground that replaces the existing wood column, the concrete extends approximately 1’ above the ground line, and is attached to the undamaged wood column.
The old creosote treated posts from the 1960’s are holding up very well. The CCA treated posts used after 1984 with .60 lbs per cubic foot of CCA have not shown any signs of rot. But, during the 1970’s and early 80’s, some salt-based treatments were less than effective, and many of the old treatment methods did not fully penetrate the building columns, leaving them vulnerable to deterioration, especially in high moisture buildings such as animal confinement structures.
It is a tough job, but with team work and the right equipment, Meigs Crews can replace those columns while keeping your building intact.
